[Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (name changed from Department of Smart Systems in April 2024)] Many students gave presentations at the academic conference of the China branch of the Society of Instrument and Control Engineers

On Saturday, November 25th, the 32nd Society of Instrument and Control Engineers China Branch Academic Conference was held at Yamaguchi University Tokiwa Campus + Online. Every year, many students and faculty from the Department of Smart Systems, Faculty of Engineering (from April 2024, Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering) participate in the academic conference and give presentations, and this year, seven student presentations were made. Department blog staff member Goga will report on the presentations.

The student presentations at this event were as follows: five presentations related to fourth-year students’ graduation research, one research presentation related to ET Robocon by third-year students, and one presentation by a team of second-year international students.

・Development of the Wearable Camera Device for Digital Twin Modeling、

This academic conference was held in a hybrid format, with Yamaguchi University as the main venue and online. The students from the department mentioned above participated online and made presentations from the meeting booth of the Department of Smart Systems and a room in the Social Collaboration Center in front of Fukuyama Station.

Tatota from the Kagawa Laboratory gave his presentation online from his desk in the lab.

Yokomoto from the Sekita Laboratory also participated and gave a presentation online.

In addition, Wu YunGang (2nd year), a member of the Smart Systems Department who participated in the conference last year and reported on the results of the “Liberal Arts Seminar”, participated this time together with Tan Jun-yun (2nd year) and gave a presentation on research and development related to wearable cameras and digital twins. The manuscript and presentation were in English, creating an international atmosphere despite it being a branch academic conference.

Matsumoto from the Goga Laboratory also gave a presentation at the meeting booth.

Tomioka from the Goga Laboratory will be giving a presentation at the meeting booth.

Mizui (Oki Laboratory) and Kawakami (3rd year) participated at the Fukuyama Ekimae Social Collaboration Center.

This time, the presentations were online, but the chairperson at the venue and the online participants gave advice, questions, and harsh criticism during the Q&A session, and I think that the students who made the presentations had a very good experience in the preliminary battle of their graduation thesis presentations. I hope that the graduate students will use this experience to prepare their future graduation thesis, and the second and third year students will use it to step up their research activities in their future student life.

A word from the president: Thank you to the students of the Department of Smart Systems (renamed the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering in April 2024) who presented the results of their daily research at the academic conference hosted by the China Branch of the Society of Instrument and Control Engineers. I’m sure you felt a sense of fulfillment after the tense presentation time. I hope that you will continue to use the feedback from other participants to continue to hone your skills and produce even higher quality research.
